This year’s ANG Stitch of the Month (SOTM) from ANG is Feuilles d’ananas, by Susan Hoekstra (Pineapple Leaves) – A Study in Values. I thought the darkest scarlet red was darker but it looks good with the dark pepper pot & Kreinik (#12 not #8 as recommended). I enjoy seeing it slowly grow.

Love the red. You’re right, Section 2 does look darker than Section 1. Maybe it’s because of the dark Kreinik.
Comment by brendasneedlepointstudioblog February 20, 2016 @ 8:47 amCould it appear darker because the inside block is surrounded by cream canvas and the second area is more concentrated coverage? I would guess, Melita, that you “tested” the shades using some technique such as a black and whit copy of the threads to see which thread was the darkest. The Kreinik is dark and together the two may be “darker”. Even so, I like it!

Comment by Liz February 21, 2016 @ 11:50 amYes, I was tempted to do in both colorways but so little time & so many projects yet to stitch!
